The effect is most likely done in AfterEffects.

I can't believe people go wild and automatically categorise the site as being cool just because of that one effect.
Be honest, besides that effect the site is plain boring, has bad typography and a weak layout.

You are right by saying the site is boring other than the effects,
but still.

it has huge potential.

-from after effects, do u just export the movie as a .swf, then import right into flash?

In a nutshell, that's like saying a movie with great special effects and horrific acting, plot, and set design is good. An effect can't make a site good, in my opinion.
It must be obvious day at camp stupid

in fact i consider a site is good when there's no trendy effects, but simple and nice transitions. no complicated eyecandy.

there is nothing inherently interfering with what they have done and it gives me a sense of how they view the web and what their aesthetic is. in that sense the site communicates so it works. i like the fact that they have done somethig different, the web is starting to look fairly homogenous. technically video in flash is intruiging, it adds a potenital for fluid interface elements light effects that werent possible in straight flash. just my 2 cents.

Hi, I found it quite good but the loading time did nt justify what it was, mb the server was on a go slow but the initial homepage loaded very slowly, then when I went to the next section it started loading again... I left

fancy_menace be serious, the site in your url zombo.com even communicates better than this one.
And different, please. It's another site to file under
"hey, I can use aftereffects now, I am now well respected in the designcommunity. My client has to wait 50 seconds before he can use the site but why should I care about that. I'm designing, not communicating."

WideGroup

have you checked theire portfolio ?

if you knew widegroup, ana carolina, mircorp, all those were awarded websites.
AV awarded also.

and for your "sense" , this is not just a guy who makes something cool.

and if you can read, read the text in www.advertisingvisual.com
they don't make only websites
they work for TV and promotions
i think that this is an ¨EVOLUTION¨ from this guy previous work

Widegroup is freak'in amazing.

so, does anyone know how they make those effects....?

I heard of a plug-in for 3D studio max which can export out a .swf file.

Come on man, you get awarded for putting an aftereffected logo on your splashpage these days. Get real.

And Widegroup, yes I knew them. They threw together that rather 'cool' site from fla-files they found on the net. We had a good laugh back then.
And their portfolio. Well I'm just not as amazed as you seem to be.
Those tech-interfaces just don't do it for me. It's like choosing the easy way out. They're very unpersonal and in most cases don't 'add' to the product.
But dojn't take it too personal, it's all just personal opinion.

i hate when a bunch of kids visit a few trendy-techie sites and believe they've learned everything about "design".

You might want to check out Trapcode's 3DStroke and Starglow plugins for Adobe After Effects. They make these kind of effects fairly easy.

come on guys, what is this all about, if you don't like it leave it be, he thinks it is cool and is asking if anyone can help him make the same think. No need to reply if you are not going to help him. Not everybody like the same thing.

All you need is after effect and some tut's on the net. And you are set.

Honestly, try those links I posted. Those are the effects they used, alongside some of AE's standard effects.
