After viewing their case study of rr.com ... I'm just wondering how many other studios are going to/have done similar projects.

They've managed to make flash UBER dynamic, which is a necessity if it's going to continue to be used on the web.

So, anyone know anyone else who does something similar if not on the same scale?

The site is nice...do doubt. But there is WAY to much scrolling. The videos are a nice touch, but maybe they should be a little smaller. I had to scroll way down to see any real content.

But the graphics and use of Flash are really cool.

RR site = One of my favorites.. graphics are top notch...navigation and usability is professional and you can tell some FORE-thought when into it.

The range of multimedia and dynamic capability of this site..GEEZ..
no wonder it was site of the year.... deserves it.

I liked watching the "case studies" and break down of how they handled and tackeled the project....I noticed things I do already..and things that I should do. very helpful..and good to know they are ordinary people as well... HAHAHA!! (albiet FLASH GURU's)

This new launch just secures their place as front runners in cutting edge multimedia and design. Again..the graphics are so.."BOLD and CRISP" that they have personality almost. Every section deserves (and got) attention. DAMN I wish I knew 3D (any 3D program...Im paying for a crash course!) LOL.. especially how they "textured with that cartoon fill"

    A++ in my opinion..

Their navigational menu is the size (h x w) of the average website!

I like this new site, it is an improvement over their last site.

One thing I do like about their site is that instead of having your standard portfolio link with a list of their work, they split up their portfolio according to "What they do". So when you read about "Rich Aps", they show you what rich aps they have done, etc.

I also like the fact that it's BIG, not every website has to be so freaking small you have to zoom in to see it. Or compressed and contained within a 500 x 400 window...

The only negative thing about the site (IMO) is that you do have to take some time to learn how to navigate through it. Granted, it didn't take too long; but, it might be confusing for some viewers.

A very clean site with good use of scroll.

The videos don't buffer enough for me though. =(

    Movie Dimensions

Can anyone figure out the movie dimensions they used for this site?
My educated guess is that it's 760x2000 or 760x2100

Anyone else have a guess or know the exact answer?

You could always check the source but from what I can tell the height of the movie is dependent on the content of the page so it scales the height dynamically. Cool feature.

    Exact Movie Dimensions

After further inspection, it appears that the movie dimensions are
    exactly 775x2192.

They`re site is really design at it`s best but that usually is the case for these big companies. Having a look at they`re clients i can`t see the same quality .

Same with when Eric Jordan was only Eric Jordan and not the whole 2A Team he created more quality sites than which it is now. Every designer is unique in my opinion and it is nearly impossible to force people to see your type of design. It seems when people go corporate they all loose they`re main goal which is to give clients what they want.

Show us some examples of the different quality you mean. Their portfolio is water tight.

    Agreed-

I dont think is a firm that turns out GARBAGE just for the sake of making "a sale" or adding to their portfolio list. I think all their work is TOP NOTCH.

You gotta put food on the table dude, also for most of these people this is their career. I wounldn't judge a company on their portfolio. Don't get confused just because company X has this client doesn't mean they are making ends meet.

I think the site is great. Bells and whistles are for ametures, the real pro's are looking for usability and a consistant look and feel that accurately portrays the companys image (in this case, ubber-high-tech). And to repeat a previous comment, the animated buttons are unreal cool. the reflections even move.

I'm heading back to drool some more right now

I know you have to put food on the table..but you DONT have to scam anyone or produce CRAP work to do it...if YOU do..Im sorry.

I, on the other hand, do NOT feel that F-I does this...I think they "PUT UP"... I think they are cutting edge..and try to make the technology work for the customer. (IE: the RR site)

I also tend to dis-agree that a portfolio can be a means to judge ones success. I mean why else have one then? To showcase yoru work sure..but when your a COMPANY you need to show case CLIENT work..which in turn is a "measure" od success to some extent.

To me..if I looked at two companies one with a nice portfolio with a long list of quality clients I would: A.) probably be more inclined to give them my business B.) would also suggest they are making "ENDS MEET" if FOrtune 500 companies are paying you to brand them.

Anyone tried opening the site in latest version of Opera?
    Don't try, it won't work.

There goes an utterly tiny percentage of the audience automatically.
Anyways, regarding the site, it's nice. I almost have to think that the "Wait while we put up our cool new Flash site" site was simpler. I mean, it had the client work and everything on one page. This new site requires a lot of clicks... and lazy people don't like clicking. (99.9% of the market is lazy.)
Anyways, I really liked it, regardless of whether some things irked me.
    Have a wonderful day!

FI are definately making ends meet...look at their offices in the videos...look at the offices of their clients (road runner)...

I remember when they first launched their first site...the one that had the MATRIX teaser trailer...on that site they had Flash Intro's advertised at $500-$1000...2 days later the pricing was removed...they realized you can't make a living charging so little for such quality work...and look where they are now...

I disagree with the person who claims they don't design well as a team, but design better as individuals...FI is outputing THE BEST designs and interfaces on the web today...did you look at their portfolio? They do not sacrifice quality of work for anybody...after all, their motto is Quality not Quantity.......meaning they would rather design 10 top notch sites rather than 100 sub par sites....they are right on track...best in the business
