Cool site. I see some influence from 2advanced, but not enough to write off as a copy. I kinda do wonder though, why the things that do get copied are usually the least impressive elements? An example here is the dragable text areas. The rest of the site design and balance is quite impressive, then they have these ugly text boxes that could have been done to fit into the whole look and feel so much better...

Anyway, just an opinion - but a nice site nonetheless...

just because it has a chaos background does not mean it has a 2advanced influence. why do you people think that 2advanced started those type of elements? those types of backgrounds were in use well b4 2advanced, i see nothing else that even remotely resembles 2 advanced. wake up folks!!!!!!

i fully read your post and you do say that you see an influence from 2advanced, thus my post is justified in saying "you people". i'm sorry but there is no 2advanced influence on that site. my problem is in saying that it is influenced by 2advanced. those are design influences not 2A influences. the thing that irritates me is the fact that soooo many people think that 2A started all these design techniques.

the bottom line is this....graphic designers were looking for a medium to display their portfolios, they found flash and next thing you know web sites started to look like print ads and t.v. and movie commercials. 2A was not the first or the last to use print styles on the web.

I have an opinion - the site does carry some influence from 2A, if not from there then maybe from the same site 2A was influenced by, if there is one. That is my opinion, and I'm sure an opinion that will be shared by a lot of other VERY experienced web designers - as I'm sure there'll be many other opinions that there is no influence at all. That's fine, I don't agree but I'm certainly not going to start going off at "you people" for having an alternate viewpoint than I do.

These boards are about expressing an opinion - that's their purpose. As soon as people start getting flamed for having a different opinion, you lose members, simple as that.

you have some valid points. can i ask you what if you saw nasa20 before 2advanced would your opinion stand? xeon is making a valid point too. 2a is using basic compositional and design elements. these things have been used in early ad and graphic design. to say that site is influenced by 2a is not fair to the designer. do you know for a fact that this site was not published before 2a? not really. i really don't see a resemblance, but just my opinion. just wondering what you thought.

My only real point now is that everyone can have a different opinion - it's what makes this planet such a groovy place if you accept that, but when you start coming down on someone because their opinion differs from yours... well, time to stay indoors me thinks...

EVERYBODY here has made some valid points about all the designs discussed. The superflous stuff has been comments about the validity of someone else's opinion. Lighten up, open your mind, there are other thought streams out there than just the one you're seeing - accept them...

8minus8 - I would hazard a guess that whoever posted their site first most likely saw the other one previously, or else got their inspiration/ideas from a similar source, liked it a lot (as I do) and wanted to do something similar yet with their own individual style, which is what he's done.

Everyone is influenced by someone/something. Almost any graphic element/style you'll see has been done before, whether it's earlier this year on the web, or from 1967 on TV, movie or otherwise. To notice, and raise, these influences when commenting on a design is not a bad thing, and may help someone to see how a certain designer reached their own finished product, and hence help them achieve the same.

It's exactly what I'm going through at the moment. I'm looking at 2A, nasa20, and many others of an entirely different ilk to these, and trying to come up with a site design/archetecture/navigation solution that I want for my own. I've done many designs for clients, most of which they have been very happy with, but am finding it hardest of all to come up with one that I'm happy with for myself (they say you are your own worst critic - certainly true in my case). I want to look at sites and see where their influence came from (always comes from somewhere) and try to achieve the same thing myself.

So, can we discuss the sites we post here, and not about the validity of someone's opinion about the site.

i liked it, i didn't think it was amazing and the influences from 2advanced are so minimal they're not worth mentioning - or every freakin' post on this board will be mentioning 2advanced.

But all influences are important - helps others begin their design journey I hope...
I dare say there will be other sites - or in deed other mediums, who knows? - that we can see the influences from, all part of that creation process.

All designs including graphic design artistry as well as program interfaces or coding that were once created all have had some influence upon one another at one point in time. That includes anything that has been created new or old, computers for instance...Someone didn't just come out of the blue and design a pc after creating the transistor. Each creation is enhanced and built based upon others designs or influences and studies. It's just a matter of taking it a step further one step at a time adding some of our own influence and/or culture and see where our minds and skills take us.

If you take a closer look at each site you see, you will notice various similarities among them. So I guess you can say we are all in some way shape or form influenced by one another taking each other to the next level, by discovering something new. And by sharing that knowledge we will go even further and be able to take things even further than we even thought we could. But, That's all I'm going to say about that. lol

Vir2l.com backgrounds. You can argue but ive been around in the industry for a while and Ive seen some weird stuff. But never the less their both good and theill be making new stuff and nothing gonna stop them.
