Flash MX2004 components and preloader....
I've made a mock up for a client, the .swf includes three components, a tree, a date finder and a text field.
I then moved everything to frame three, and made a two frame preloader.
Problem is, the movie won't enter frame one (using "test movie") till about 75% of the movie is loaded (140K).
My first thought is that the components are acting wierd, although I've unchecked the "export in first frame" option, and even unchecked the "export for actionscript" option.
Am I dealing with a bug, or am I doing something stupid?

Leave both linkage, and try a new seperate preloader only movie, to load your present movie cleared of your present preloader.
This workaround worked fine on MX only, and should also work on MX2004.
I'll PM you a link to such a preloader only .fla.
Regards.

Thanks oldnewbie.
Now if I'm really cunning I'll be able to figure out a way to use the same preloader for seperate sections of the movie.

I have a generic preloader script (based on the same other script) if you want to have a look at it?
BTW, if you do use the first one, and get it working, can you confirm it does work in MX2004, since I'm but on MX only still?

Thanks, but not yet, I need to get my hands dirty myself, so I know what I'm doing inside out.

Will do, can't say when though.

OK, opened your preloader as was in Flash MX 2004, it works.
It does seem to have broken my "test movie" debugger, however, I had to load up to a server to see it in action.

You can't test this kind of preloader locally, unless you upload the movie you're trying to preload to your server, and use that upload's url to test it out.
