48hr Design Contest Voting

We are finally ready to begin the voting phase of the 48hr Design Contest. All the games are up, and we have some really great entries in this contest. Here is how the voting will proceed:

You will post a reply on this thread and indicate which author should win in each of the following categories (the same way previous contests have been voted). Please vote for each category. Feel free to include comments about the games if you want to.

Voting will go from today, Wednesday, January 26, 2005, until Wednesday, February 2, 2005. At that time we'll tally the votes and announce the winners on a seperate thread. I thought hard about the suggestions for additional categories, but they seemed to either build on or run over the pre-existing cats, so we'll just stick with the ones that have been used before as they really do a good job of applying to all the games. Big thanks to Beatcow for coming up with such a great schema. I could not improve on it.

edit: thought i had better explain why i gave kianis best overall and timbertrand more individual votes, basically with the most addictive category i had tim just in front of kianis but i felt kianis's art was way beyond everyone elses, plus i think the most hard work category is a bit of a farce being as i think its quite ridiculous to say anyone person has worked harder or less harder than anyone else on their game, at the end of the day we all had 48 hours to make a game. obviously i wont take anything away from the winner of that award but id like to think everyones a winner in that category being as everyone managed to knock up a good game in a very short period of time.

2 leason: There's no such guy as swcJackson, he is swcAndrew.
Let me ask from voters to leave a little (very tiny) comment on a game and why do you think it's so good (and what was the second on your mind etc.) I think it's very important for us authors, that's what I'm gonna do, but abit later (I'll go take a nap after a nightwork).

Just to let it be known (although I'm sure it won't occur), you are not allowed to vote for yourself in any category. Voting as a contestant serves as a form of patronage towards your peers who went through the same grueling 48 hours as you.

Santuria, if you could, please provide a vote for each of the five categories. We do this to balance out the totals at the end, so that no one category receives the most attention from voters. Thank you

Best Overall: OneMrBean. Although they (OneMrBean and timBertrand) both have 2 votes each, I believe that OneMrBean wins it overall. It doesn't have to be original to win and its got great graphics

Best Art: OneMrBean - there are a lot of graphics (compared to other games) and it looks nice. timBertrand wasn't far behind either.

Most Addictive/Fun: timBertrand just beats kianis for me. If kianis had more levels, then I would have voted for him because it ain't too fun playing the same level over and over again. timBertrand because its just so anoying! (I want to beat it, did my first go btw

)

Most Hard Work: OneMrBean because it has heaps of good art, and there are no bugs (that I have found). But kianis was close, I believe it would be the hardest to create.

I would like to say that a lot of people made a nice game here. But some games were still buggy, which doesn't make it an completed game. And other fun games were too short to win in a catagory. I know you guys had very little time, but we should still vote like it's a normal game, right?

Best Overall: OneMrBean - No bugs, smooth gameplay nice features.

Best Art: Ihoss - Very nice idea, love the futurustic look

Most Addictive/Fun: OneMrBean - It has the most variety wich makes it more fun to play than the other games.

Most Hard Work: OneMrBean - It seems like it's just a normal completed game which is good when made within 48 hours.

Originality1: Kianis - Golving with packages... very cool

Originality2: Leighton - I think the theme might be a bit shocking for some, but it's a very original idea.

Edit: Forgot to add leight's name up here >< They both deserve one point.
