hmm... i wonder how to do this!

in my website i have my portfolio represented by thumbnails, now what i want is, when people press a thumbnail a new window opens above my main swf 640x860. i just don't want it to be a browser window.
so i'm thinking, can i just load a swf that is bigger than my main swf ontop?
how do i close the window when returning to the portfolio.
is this the way to do it or am i completely wrong?
