I'm pretty much finished. I have a couple of versions of one image, another version that's similar, and one random friggin' version.
gotta figure out what I'm going to post. none are my typical "style"...

Me too, I have 5 possibilities, and several variations of each of those.

yeah, i see no reason why you cant do that

So I can say, "My image symbolizes freedom, anyone who doesn't vote for it is obviously against freedom and will be hunted down. I mean this. I will use my image to murder you; I will print it out and give you a series of papercuts that could get infected."
It's got sybolizing, meaning, and use; however, it's not very subtle.

And same here... after the voting is done on an image, I personally would be interested in seeing all varients. I know that I tend to end up making a bunch of varients, and it would be interesting to see other peoples creative process in that regard...

FK'n Elitist Super Mod
erm.......what if an opponent doesn't post by Friday?
I have PM'ed phaty with zero response. He has also not been online (here at FK) since Feb. 25, 2005.
hmmmm....maybe he has a life??

I'd say that's a forfeit. Anyone who can't meet the deadlines forfeits and pushes their opponent onto the next round.
Let's hope he comes back before Friday... Sunday... or whenever the deadline is!

i was hoping nobody would forfeit/not show up. Maybe what we can do is if this happens more than once we can have people with "no show" opponents put their images against eachothers, for the sake of competition. You would have different stock images but its the best we could do. Or just let both of you win.
I could go through and PM everybody involved who hasnt acknowledged somehow that they have seen the tournment has started

PM a link to the image to me if you cant get in touch with your opponent. if you havent talked to him, maybe try to get his attention to make sure he is aware the contest has started.

What did you and your partner agree on? When you're both ready just both post your images in the correct thread and let the voting begin. Atleast, that's what I understood, so don't take it was fact.

Hmm, I have a slight problem/question... now that a pair has both their images up, I was tempted to vote; however, if I had voted I would be locked out from voting in that bracket again. I think we should just wait to vote after every pair produces their images. Close the poll 'til then, but still make pairs put up their images together, and open the poll once every pair is in.
If this was already mentioned, sorry, I must have missed it.

yep...this voting thing ain't going to work.
what's the problem with having one thread per pairing just for the vote?
i know this will add a lot of clutter to the arena, but only the first round has a ton of matches.
and they will drop like rocks once the voting is over and they are closed.
it may create a lot of threads, but it's foolproof.

I've locked voting until further notice.
I think a quick re-design of how this should be played out is in order.
