thanks for the input, guys. i thought about using color, but i changed my mind at the end of it all because this site is to promote our demo - a bare bones, straight-to-the-point attempt to get noticed. i wanted the site to emulate that "no frills" approach, thus the lack of color...

...i use firefox as well, and so does everyone i talk to online, and none of us have ever had that problem...

...i don't know if there were multiple releases of flash player 7, but that could be part of the issue (that you perhaps have an early release of flash 7). otherwise, i have no idea how to correct that problem. you're the first of everyone i've spoken to that has seen that particular problem...
