3d studio max 4 powerful enough?

Hi ive just started 3d work..but i only have access to 3d studio max 4. Nowadays version 7 is out... i mean is there any use for me to start to learn on version 4? is it worth my while? cheers... yeh how much more powerful is it than swift 3d version 4?

I'd say 3ds max 4 will do the job just fine. 3ds max 7 is quite a bit different from 3ds max 4 but since you're new to 3d, I would think 3ds max 4 holds enough content for you to learn from for quite sometime.
