    this great effect??? how the hell do they do that !

    hello flashers

    i was wondering if anybody knows how to do 2 of these great effects that mn8 studio has .
    1. being the great navigation... love it !!
    and
    2. being that great swish transition... how the hell did they do that ???

    That nav effect is done with a mask.
    The main design is on the lowest layer.
    Above that is all of the nav choices.
    Above that is a rectangular movie clip set as a mask.
    Then it's coded to move with the mouse pointer.

    thank you for that ... but i was wondering if you knew where i could get a tutorial for it??

    any ideas on the swish effect ?

    I threw together sort of a basic one. See attached. If you can't open it, let me know.
    The swish effect is more masking, perhaps with the drawing API. Not sure.

    The Drawing API allows you to draw using code rather than using the timeline.
    I'm not too good at it. It's rather tedious. But it's cool. Take a look at this:

    got your email. Not sure why your SWF isn't working. To be honest, my code was thrown together very quickly just to give you the general idea. It may not have been the best approach. Still, mine works fine. I just tried it.

    thanks for that davy.... not a problem ... for some reason the swf does not work when you double click to launch it.... it works fine when you put it in a browser.... strange stuff!!
