ADOBE + MACROMEDIA = ONE ---What do you think about this??

Crazy news, but it's true...ADOBE's approximate $3.4 billion investment into Macromedia.

    If true... let's see.

pure speculation. and I friggin' own stock with BOTH of them!

Goodbye Director, Authorware, Fireworks, Atmosphere (ok, it's already dead), Freehand. Flash MX 2006 and Photoshop CS3 integration is a must wait for... Illustrator CS3 with a timeline with output to SVG and Flash is a possibility now.

Photoshop Elements... it'll die. Fireworks will replace it, but it'll retain the PS Elements name. There will probably be a low budget line that'll come out... think CS Budget. PS Elements, Illustrator Elements (Freehand redone perhaps?), and Dimensions will make a come back with Flash output - direct competitor to Swift3D.

Aftereffects and Premiere will be better integrated with 3D and perhaps better Flash output. Director... shockwave3D needs to be updated or killed. Adobe failed at 3D with Atmosphere, so it'll get killed.

And this news, if 100% true... still.

    holy damn.

Adobe needs to hire me now.

I think some amazing stuff is going to come out of this...except we have to see whether MM invests the money back into the production line...they could possibly walk, you never know, but I doubt it.

    Yeah...

Well for one there's going to be a better utilization of video in the flash player.

Now all that needs to happen is Microsoft buy out both...lol that would be the end of the world.

I seriously think it was Flash Paper that did it... it was about to jump into PDF territory big time.

The Flash Player, if Adobe is smart, will be still small, and left alone. But even that isn't what Macromedia did.

hell, I was sleepy. This news woke me up like a cold shower. I see good, and extremely bad and hardly no in-between as what could happen. Problem is, I know that Adobe will probably screw up and send Dreamweaver to an early death, when it should just kill off GoLive.

And I still think that my Dimensions/Swift3D part is accurate. It's gotta happen.

I was thinking the same thing.

It's the weakest link in the chain, always has been. For awile there, new versions were coming out all the time, to fix screwups in earlier versions.

I see good, and extremely bad and hardly no in-between as what could happen.
Hear, hear. Adobe has a few good programs that run on Windows, but they also have some, like Encore that are total trash. I'm just afraid they are going to bastardize everything by putting more of a Mac influence into the programming. Not that I have anything against Mac's, but Windows people aren't going to change, just to use flash, they'll switch to Swish first.

Just think, if Microsoft did that, the Mac would be petrified and there would be another technological revolution. Heck if they bought out Apple they could call themselves Macrosoft...lol.

Wow, this is the biggest web news for a long time.

Its a bit like incest. Two family members, who you love in their own right, but the thought of them together...... *shudder*

This will be very interesting, as i sit here with flash, illustrator and director open.....

I want Photoshop CS, Image Ready CS, Illustrator CS, Flash CS and Dreamweaver CS in one sub $1000 package.

Not that I ever think they would do that.

Well I guess I should wait before buying Creative Suite 2, they are bound to be releasing some new software or bundled package.

It will be interesting to see what they do with what were formerly rival programs e.g. Freehand & Illustrator. Will they simple drop the Macromedia products?

If they do not and drop even some of their own it is kind of admitting that some of their software wasn't the best in the first place.

I don't see them combining and working together for atleast 5 years.

Its an emmense task integrating two such huge corps.

We'll see though, as this still needs to be confirmed
