Just when you thing the thread is dying it livens up again..
Nice work admedia I'm clueless.
As for non macro.
I don't think I could get both something abstract and large with out a great deal of editing which is not the goal.
So Kudo's to admedia again.
no worries about the macro peeps...i just thought i would pose a creative challenge. i have already taken 2 or 3 that are in my 'maybe' pile for this thread...and they are ALL macro/closeup. that's what got me thinking about it.
frets (first), pamela (granules), and admedia (mystery things) :: all fantastic.
these could be stock people buy...
yeah, no editing allowed frets (besides cropping, rotating, etc).
this is a photo thread...
Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences. Blog ¤ Photos ¤ Book
"A piece of toast always lands butter side down, and a cat always lands of its feet. If one was to tie a piece of toast to the back of a cat butter side up, would it hover above the ground in perpetual indecision?"
and this one might pass as not being a macro. It is a crop, so maybe it still is. The object is fairly big. You be the judge.

Admedia, that is a great photo!!! Could they be cement pillars with the nameplates removed?
You are right Nordberg, we have not seen anything but closeups in this comp. But I agree with Frets, it is hard to do something abstract and large without a lot of editing.
Milo, I agree with Carly on the first one, tire. But I think the second one is part of a fence. Neat fotos.
Ok, I decided to try something abstract that is not a closeup! And you definately will know what these are, but they are not something you see everyday in a foto! :-)

yes. i didn't even realize what those things on it where, but i suppose you are right, it looks like it did have a nameplate on at one time... it is a detail from the orange county convention center in orlando, fl. Taken at 110mm Here is basically the same shot taken at 24mm (unrotated).
are those kimono dragons in your tulip garden? . and my what little feet you have
Frets, these threads never die.....that is what is so great about them. Everyone just thinks up new and creative ideas, they execute them, and then they post them.
Now, I want to remind everyone of the ru|3z. I believe Photoshop is to digital photography what the darkroom is to film. That being said, there have been a few, that I will let go unmentioned, who have taken.....let's say creative liberties, with this rule. Please, have fun, but stick to the ru|3z.
And with that:
Canon 20D | 27mm | f5.6 | 1/5s (handheld!) | ISO 1600 (that's the grain, sorry)
The first one was a tire. The second one isn't a canndlestick, and its not really a fence, but that is close.
