Setting Up Correct Tables for Database Driven Site

Hey Guys/Gals just wondering if you could help me out. I'm in the middle of planning a highly database driven site. Now the site will have a massive amount of users that will register to it and i was trying to work out what kind of info that i will need to get from each user. And i also wanted to know what reccomendations on breaking up the details into different tables. Does anyone have suggestions or any article on the topic.

The users when they registered have to supply things like username and password and email, but they also have to provide personal details like city state and zip and so on.

    Thanks in Advance

You should be able to just make a list of everything that you need from users since you know what exactly you want for your site. I suggest looking at something like phpBB for an example.
