    Importing movie clips with actionscript

    Hi guys
    I have ALMOST finished my first flash project now hehe hopefully this will be the last question

    I have used this tutorial:
    http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Ac...1174/index.php
    To make masks and scrollbars for text for a bunch of items. What I did was save each one as a seperate .fla and then export each one as an swf.

    But then when I import them into my movie the scroll buttons don't work - it is just a static graphic.

    So I tried making a movie clip within my main project and cutting and pasting all the frames. This worked when I previewed just the movie clip, but when I import the movie clip into a scene again it is just static.

    Can anybody help?

    Thanks

    Thi is asked almost every day. Using the search option here may also give you faster answers.

    If you are on MX2004 put this in the first frame of the external swf file.

    _lockroot = true;

    Otherwise you have to adjust the paths of your file. Any reference to the _root in the scripts will point at the wrong timeline ( the host swf main timeline ).
