Phantom Flasher...
Got a Dell Laptop? Dell are watching your every move!
Wow... scary! If its true!
What could this mean? I called Dell tech support about it, and they said, and I quote, "The intregrated service tag identifier is there for assisting customers in the event of lost or misplaced personal information." He then hung up.
A little more research, and I found that that board spliced in between the keyboard and the ethernet chip is little more than a Keyghost hardware keylogger.

It's a hoax.
Check the numbers on this letter from department of Homeland Security and compare.

Yea, perhaps I should have waited on solving that one.
A little paranoia never hurt anyone.

Paranoia is not the right word considering I don't even own a Dell!

So your monitor may take note of your iris and record your face expressions so they could make a clone?

Maybe, but why would anyone want to clone him?

Pull out the HD, copy your stuff, and stick it back in. Then, ruin the laptop REAL bad...beyond repair. Its always nice to have them ship back a new laptop with a "Sorry we could not recover your data as the laptop is beyond repair" message

im not supposed to send the hd in. in the directions im supposed to pull it out before shipping.
Nothing to see here, move along.

they wont always give you a new laptop, theyll give you the exact same model as the one you tore up, unless that model is discontinued, of course, then they will give you a new, up-to-date, laptop.

Dell may be evil, but they're not that evil. simple solution though, don't buy dell, or gateway, or compaq, or HP, or any other major brand name you can think of.

What kind of laptop do you suggest?
