    which monitor should i get...?

    should i get...

the 20" flat panel <--- probably what i'll get.
    the 20" widescreen flat panel
    2 19" flat panels

these are all from dell - the 20" flat panel looks nice, and gets a great rating.
    plus it has 1600 x 1200 - which i love.
i would get the two 19", but i think that will drive nordgal crazy.

    thoughts?

Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

    get 3 19" flat panels.

I would probably go for the 20" widescreen.

Two 19"! I recently upgraded from a 17" CRT and i'm loving the extra space, I can't imagine how great two would be!

Widescreen tends to make the screen feel alot smaller...

i agree with the space issue, but again, i think it would drive nordgal crazy having the seam right in the middle. how do you guys configure it - is your primary right in front, and the secondary cocked off to the side?

i work on a CRT at 1600x1200 here at work, and have not space issues even with flash (but it's tight). that's why i like the regular 20".

Yes. I use my secondary for palletes, IM, some browsing and other junk.

I think nordgal? will be fine with it. she doesn't have to look at the second monitor.

Nah, windows doesn't treat it as one space, it treats it as two monitors, so if you maximise an app, it maxes out one screen... she should be alright with it.

Just keep one off when your not using it

Widescreen is rubbish, inless you're doing video work or watching dvds on the screen... otherwise, go for the extra room and get the sexy 20"!

I think I'll get one too

    Definitely.

Photoshop on my main screen full picture shown. Secondary monitor houses all my toolbars and palettes.

If you go widescreen, go bigger than 20.

My co-worker got a 20" widescreen from Dell and returned it for a 19" 4:3. 20" wide is narrower than 19" 4:3, it's going to feel smaller to you.

I'd personally do the two 19" ones if they had thin frames. Just make sure your new system has a card with dual DVI outputs.

The sad part is wb80z didn't have to add the banjo.
