    Lazy forum posters!

Are you a lazy forum poster? Are you tired of writing the long url to your website every time you want to post a link? Are you sick of copying the url from google into a bb tag? Then we have the Firefox extension for you!

    BBTags

so, whats new? Something I call tags. It works like this. When I posted the link above I didnt write out the url. Instead I wrote \home::tagbb.php::BBTags\ and the extension did the rest. For a link to a Google search for "flashkit I write \google::flashkit\

This is version 0.9 so its only a beta. It still works perfect, as far as I have tested it, so it would be great if you could test it for me and a few comments would be nice too.

So download it now and make Fredis server grind to a halt

What? That sounds like far too much typing... can't there be a button that does it?

I've had this discussion with Fredi too (a long time ago). Lets see which one takes the longest. So you type along like this dadada dumdidumdi dam and you decide to add a link. with a button you have to lift your right hand of the keyboard, move it to the mouse, move the mouse to find the pointer on the screen, move the mouse to the button (maybe you have to scroll a little too) and click on the button. Now a promt message would apear and you have to move your hand over to the keyboard and enter the text again, twice if you want to put a link to your home page. That obviously takes a lot longer to do than to typ \home::::\ (which is what you write excluding what you have to enter in the promt boxes anyways. And if you want to only write \h:index.php:home\ instead the extension lets you edit and make your own tags anyways so its not a problem.

Why not make an extension that scans text boxes for urls then adds bbtags around it?

hang on...couldn't you rip the vB function that automatically adds [url] tags around, you guessed it, urls...?
    anyway, i'll have a go...

ok, i installed it, and got proper context menu showing, but i didn't get any dialog boxs when i tried to install the tags you had links to on the tutorial page, and i didn't really understand the tutorial for making your own...

hell. why not add a way to "Paste URL for Forum" when you copy an URL into memory and have it add [url= and /url] to the url?

or even better, add the option to assign url pasting to specified hotkeys,
ie, Ctrl+Alt+1 will paste the whole [url=...] shebang? wouldn't that be easier than typing out the tag ref?

I do, but its called copy Link. Right click a link anywhere and click the Copy Link button, add the text in the prompt box and paste in a textarea.

And I'm still a follower of my own idea that would use the context menu to run installble regexes on the content of the field.
