    NASA World Wind

I just came across a pretty cool app for your PC called World Wind. It's basically a 3D globe that you can zoom into and view topography and urban areas. You can get placenames and a bunch of other really cool information.

Check it out here. My only real gripe is that it's not realtime, and you need one heck of a PC to run it. Pretty bad slowdown on a 1800 with a GeForce 2. That and there's a lot of extra downloading to do, like the .Net framework (extra 28mb) and some extra DX drivers.

Wow, you really sold it to me

Only joking, i'm on a 1400 so I won't even attempt to run it!

I tend to stay out of the sales and marketing aspect of business. .

Actually, I just tried it again, and it doesn't run too bad. It could be that I had Flash, every Corel app and WMP going last night. You might want to give it a try. I was just giving a bit of a heads up since 108 MB's a lot to download. NASA suggests at least a 1 GHZ, so you should be alright.

It's a lot of fun, even when it runs a bit choppy. Can anyone say "Around the World in 180 MS?"

I used to use WorldWind, until I found Google Earth. If you haven't tried Google Earth yet, you should be pleasantly surprised...
