Creating a discussion forum.. can flash be used?
Hello,
I want to construct a simple discussion forum for my site, which at present, is entirely in Flash.
At the moment I dont have any experience of databases and forums (Ill be learning from scratch) so I just want to know if it is better to construct it in html or if it is easy in flash too.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Also.. I have to complete it within 2 months... is this unrealistic.
Can anyone recommend a good book or internet tutorial on this??
Thanks
Lou

sure
two months is a hell lot of time, u can create a discussion board long before that.
check www.simplemachines.org/ ...dload the entire file. then do as they say. u must have a mysql database supported host.
if everything goes fine, ur board shud be installed within a week

thanks for that,
Im not to sure what I download: is it the first zip file?
Also, I might go on to create a forum that is seperated into different sections (like flash kit). Am I still able to do this with just one database and the download you recommended?
Cheers

It's a long way to the middle
Just use a standard html/php forum. So much easier than a flash site, redirecting script all over the place! I recommend Yabb Forums. They work perfectly, just takes a bit of time to set them up. Check it out, it's a great 'free-ware'' forum.

Thanks Mike, Ill check that out too..
are there ways of customising the header of the Yabb forum to contain my own graphics?
