    Here's my cool portfolio site:

    http://www.delvarworld.com/

I've posted this site twice here before, each time there was a major update / design change. That's the issue today. This is my portfolio site which showcases everything that I do. Have a look, explore a little, and play with the navigation menu which took me weeks to make. And perhaps leave some feedback if you like it (or hate it) enough.

Unfortunately Delvar...my comments are going to fall closer to the "hate it" end of the scale.

What exactly is the concept for this site? There seems to be no consistency at all. You have made a bold design move with the pipes menu, but then you never refer to that idea again for the rest of the site. The colours even change as you go through it...but not for any reason, it seems.

The pipe menu is kind of cheesy, but you did a decent job of doing what you were trying to do. The music button is a cool idea, but the fact that you can click parts of the music button without anything happening is confusing. I would revisit the hit frames of your buttons, many of them didn't react when I thought I was over the button. And dude...the slinky just flies off the screen into nowhere...that's straight out of a PowerPoint presentation.

The main area of the site is brutal html-style work. I don't know if that's html in a frame or Flash (I didn't take the time to find out), but either way...it definitely needs some work. I got a 404 error for the runway page.

Over-all I think you just need to get your head in the game a little more...find a direction and go there, and don't be so focused on the menu that you let other areas of the site suffer.

WOW... well it could use some work. It's a little all over the place. I don't like the menu or the colors. I'm not sure if you were trying to be different by having the loader coming down on the left side, and by having your pop ups appear on the left as well. I can always appreciate a unique site, but if the design effort is a little low then the layout tends to look like something that "just happened." The morphing buttons are a little weird too.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. I guess I would rather have people focus on the actual content, which is plentiful. I'm not much of a web designer, that's not really what this site is about. But thanks for the comments / ****ting on my dreams.

i say try at least some consitency....

navigation is cool, i can see that you spent alot of time on it.. it show.. animations are nice a fluid, just not too appetizing... Stick with one font size and face... it will take away (a little bit) the overwhelming aspect of it.. too much to take in...

next pick a style for each page and "STICK TO IT" there is not reason headers should be different on each page, not even if that is what you were wanting to do... "DONT DO IT" make sure each page has the same style...

just making changes to keep consistent will help tremendously...

I agree with this, thank you. That's going to be hard work considering the current layout of the site, but you're probably right about it helping the whole site to belong together.

I have noticed a lot of people get real angry when a bit of criticism is thrown their way. No one is out to be "***ting" on your dreams, the fact is there are A LOT of people out there with comps churning out garbage. If you want to come out successful you gotta kick people in the nuts with your awesomness (is that a word?)

    anyway a couple things;
always, always, always check ur work on different resolutions and apps (IE and firefox at the very least but try to also check safari.)
On lower rez monitors your menu dissappears and your text on the left does some interesting formatting things.

Without getting too deep, the site needs a bit of work. That being said...the menu is pretty slick but unfortunately large.

    Good Luck

    JWin:

    1) "2008 Man of the Year" is hilarious and awesome.

    2) Hell yes "awesomeness" is a word.

    3) I'm glad somebody else appreciates the value of honest, constructive criticism.

    Have a nice day.
