    Enabling external links

i just installed flash 8, but unlike with MX. when i open the flash site and click on links on the buttons, it will not access urls which aren't in the same location as the site itself.

Then it sends me to the "Global Security Settings Panel", and i have changed the tick box to "always allow" in regards to accessing information from other sites. yet... when ever i click on the link (after refreshing the flash clip). the same problem repeats itself despite the security settings.

have i done something wrong when designing the flash, or is it to do with the flash player?

I just figured this out. Your problem is that the new browsers have instituted safety protections that block the external links coming from files on your computer. The link should work fine after you upload it.
