    MACs vs PCs!

Hehehe no just kidding... My friend has asked me to back up her ibook so it can be wiped before she gives it to her sister.

How can I copy all the jpg files on the disc to a usb hd?

In windows I'd just do search *.jpg then drag and drop them, it seems you can't do this on a mac! Boooooooo!

Any help would be great people!

If you’re not sure of an item’s file format, use “kind” to find types of files including “Kind:Movie,” “Kind:Image” or “Kind:Document.” Spotlight displays a neatly sorted result list that you can browse to find what you want.

Apple+F on the desktop to find, then search for extension being jpg... then drag and drop. Worked here.

Actually, I was going to suggest creating a Smart Folder then copying its contents to the external HD, but that's also assuming she's running Tiger.

Edit: Gerbick's method is probably easier

Yup, I did it gerbs way to display all the jpgs, but when I go to drag and drop them to the usb drive it just fails... must be to do with the multiple folders or something?

Its osx 10 maybe? Not sure, switched it off now... will check in the morning

Moved to the Mac forum where a real whiz like SJT can probably see it.

Gerb's method should work fine, then do select all in the top half of the results pane and drag it into the folder you want to copy them into with the option (alt) key held down.
The only problem might be trying to copy two different images (normally in different locations) with the same name into the same folder.
