how do i keep rain off my lens

im wondering whats the best way to keep rain of a lens or to clean rain off the lens of a camera, i have a Dimage Z2.

i take alot of outside photographs, mostly at track days and other car shows/ events.

just wondering has any one any tips or things to help me keep rain off my lens or whats the best thing to use to wipe the rain off the lens and not get smudges?

    For what it's worth....
That camera might be small enough that just wearing a hat might help. If you're not using the flash, anyway...

yea a cover for the camera would be a good idea but i would still need help with cleanen the lens.

i do keep it in a bag or my pocket for most of the time but just the other day when i was useing a tripod in the rain, as it was ferly dark and dint want to use the flash, rain keept getting on the lens, supose thats the trouble with photographing in the rain.

so whats the best wipes/kind of cloth to use to wipe the lens clean?

I use a micro fiber cloth, no scratches and clean as a whistle.

I remember reading an article about this in one of the photo magazine (Digital Photographer?) where you can get a lens cover/hood to help with the rain.

I can't remember exactly what model it was but something like this may help?

Saran Wrap, much cheaper and disposable plus It clinges nicely to the camera's lens hood, but that's only coz I have an add-on tube that doesn't fit in my Rain Coat anymore
