here's my first shot of 2006 from this morning:

    followed quickly by:

that's a great blue heron sitting in a tree (kind of rare to be IN a tree).
he has a height of 1.3 meters, and a 2 meter wingspan. wow.

I am doing some work for an airboat tour outfit the everglades here in Florida. So I had to go there earlier today and pick up some things. I brought my kids with me and my camera. They are really nice people there and gave us a free ride on the airboat and there happened to be that bald eagle there. There's alot of them around in the everglades. Alot of Alligators and more alligators too.

I was just lucky, right place, right time, right camera settings... etc.

Anyways, I appreciate the compliments guys. I extremely admire both of your work. It feels good to be on the other end of a compliment every once in a while .

wow Phil-ray, what camera and lens do you use, the moon shot is marvellous, although I can see certain noise, what ISO where you using?

[edit]OK nevermind my question, it's a Minolta DiMage, nice camera, but I think ISO 200 brought up the graininess in the pic, great shot still[/edit]

it was either the iso setting or the fact that it was in my hands not on a tripod so it may have been a little shakey on it, but i think it was because i had to use the digital zoom a wee bit to get it that close, maybe x1 Digital zoom not to sure, (cant remember. I been waiting for another clear night/ early evening since but dam its been cloudy or i have been busy with something that i havent got a chance to get another photo.

ISO 200 should not bring up noise...wonder why it is that grainy though, maybe it is caused by compression!
