Depending on the participation it might be cool/useful to extend the sides of the image and it would be really great to get everyone in the arena to make their mark in this.

definitely. in fact, i think our host opened it to that in his first post.
and when we've added to much horizontally, add some space for subterranean activity.
add a few months of gravity to this battle, and fk town is going to be rockin'.

overlapping is ok, just not overlapping a whole object, i like what you did, someone could add some bird droppings to make it more authentic

I build my image layer by layer in photoshop (I cant resort to MSpaint) and when you publish GIF's are are tons of options on how to do it. I choose the most default looking ones -- the dont ruin the pixellyness of it --but does anyone know if there are certain options that work best.

I learnt 3 things:
1) I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to pixel art!
2) Volumetric effects are really hard to do in said pixel medium!
3) I'm ready for Godzilla! Bring it on!

For the GIF colors... I just drag the GIF in and lock the pallete(256 colors) that way I don't rebuild the color pallete, which will favor some of the other colors and the blue gradient gets lost. I added only 2 colors I believe(light yellows, for the explosion), the rest I grabbed from the existing pallete.
