I'm Norwegian and I have nothing against Islam
stop burning our flags!
I know there are some muslim members here, and I wan't your oppinion on this matter. My view is that we all have fredom of speech, so we can say whatever we want without beeing afraid of prossecution. Now the islamic world is demanding that the Norwegian and Danish governments punnish the editors of the newspapers. Do you agree or not?

Look like you Norwegian's have gotten into a bit of trouble. I was reading the and the part about:
"Islamic law, based on clerics' interpretation of the Quran and the sayings of the prophet, absolutely forbids depictions, even positive ones, of the Prophet Muhammad in order to prevent idolatry."
Caught my eye. Sounds like they're going to be the type that stops at nothing to get revenge.

I think burning a flag is a fantastic form of free speech and a divine RIGHT afforded to anyone...provided that they allow for free speech themselves. This includes, but is not limited to cartoons depicting a deity.
*incidentally, if Muhammed is not supposed to be depicted in pictures/sculptures and the like...how does anyone know what he looks like in order to depict him in a cartoon???*

My point was ....why not attack the newspaper or the artist...

my point was...why attack anyone or anything? If they won't allow free speech (no Muhammed in cartoons), they should not be able to practice free speech (flag burning).

That's too specific to fit any agenda where anger is involved.

honestly I think if you have freedom of speech to mock a religion, you should have freedom of speech to burn a flag. What I want to know is where they got a hold of a dannish flag.

You have a point there, but what is worrying me is the threatening.

I haven't even seen the cartoon, very few norwegians have, as noone is printing them.

"Islamic law, based on clerics' interpretation of the Quran..."
true, from my experience, it is actually the lies of some fxxxed up clerics, NOT ISLAM, that seems to stir up hatred.
-
perhaps the muslim world have negative feelings towards the "west" as a whole right now. eg. why did they kidnap peace activists? edit> and why dont ppl there protest against the kidnapping of woman whereas there is such a big deal with a cartoon?

One of my biggest concernes is whether this is only small incidents, and then the media portrays it as if the whole of the muslim world is against us.

very few papers or cartoonists have their own flags.
