the difference is that the proposals are to present social stereotypes of people of the jewish faith. They are not printing characatures of a Jewish prophet.

They kind of shot themselves in the foot though, because to effectively create a parrallel they would need to print cartoons of Abraham or Moses, They can't do that though because they are also prophets in Islam.

No it's not the same thing you're right, but the intent is obviously to offend those of Jewish faith in whatever way they can.

It's almost as if, they realize how foolish they are looking, so they are going to try and offend some Jews and hope the Jews react in the same way, therefore justifying their behavior. Doubtful that will happen. They shot themselves in the foot in more ways than one.

swampy, depicting the prophet of islam sporting a bomb in his turban is doing exactly that, creating the social stereotype that all muslims are terrorist or suicide bombers.

A couple of years ago there was an art exhibit in Stockholm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3407517.stm) A jewish diplomat - israeli ambassador to sweden vandalized the art-exhibit because he didn't agree with the theme. Sure, the theme was offensive to Jews, but resort to vandalism? Yeah, I'm being facetious.

Surely you can see the irony here. I want to see you guys defend freedom of speech on this one.

Oh wow, you found an isolated incident where a Jew vandalized a piece of 'art'! OMG, call the SS!!! LOL!
edit: This story is goofy. It doesn't even say how it was vandelized and it sounds like the installation is still in place. What did he do, spit on it? filck a cigarette at it?

Anyone remember the Piss Christ in this country? Yea, that was actually funded by our government.

I'm pretty sure mentioning Allah over and over again while taking hostages, blowing things up and ramming planes into buildings has done more than its share in building social stereotypes.

I'm playing the 9/11 card right now, because I can and because I'm sick of some of the pure ignorance in this thread.

And not for nothing, but where I live it's not assumed that all muslims are terrorists, and I can see Manhattan from my street. I used to have to go to the WTC a couple times a week for work. My best friend's dad worked for the WTC, and barely survived BOTH bombings, losing close friends in both incidents. He doens't hate muslims.

Muslims here aren't rioting or threatening people. AFAIK there was a peaceful protest outside of a newspaper in Philly that ran it.

If there's some kind of Jewish-run anti-Muslim conspiracy, it's certainly not happening in the biggest target for Muslim extremists.

If a couple Danish cartoons that were comissioned to originally in part as commentary to help out a children's book author who couldn't find an illustrator who would draw Mohammad are going to convince you there's some kind of grand conspiracy, I suggest you but heavy-duty aluminum foil to make your hats out of, not the regular stuff.

A more in depth story of reactions to the work of art.

admedia, your reaction is exactly as expected. Such blind, one-sided convictions are typical of jews and anti-islamic indignant hypocrites.

You are really unbelievable. You think this is actually comparable to the current situation. Once you take off your anti-semetic glasses you will realize what you have here is a person who found a piece of art offensive, 'vandalized' the art museum, and was promptly escorted out by security.

    Case closed.

Oh and there was some discussion and peaceful protest about it as well...

What else are you suggesting about it now?

sounds like he actually did the Museum a favor

Could it be because USA riots are not State controlled events?

Whoever would have thought that Armageddon would have been brought forth by a cartoon.

Would you also believe that the death toll from rioting in the wild kingdom is now 10.

10 people ( all muslims ) have been killed or died as a result of the protesting......is there not an event that Muslims can organize and attend in the Middle East without some one dying for once?

    Here is a beauty:

"......But one of the clerics, Ahmed Akari, told the BBC the imams carried three extra caricatures of Muhammad that were far more inflammatory than the original 12, and were believed to have been drawn by extremists as part of a hatemail campaign.

Mr Akari said the imams had added them to their dossier to demonstrate the kind of attitudes that Muslims were facing in Denmark.

He insisted they were not intended to aggravate reaction in the Middle East...."

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice accuses Syria and Iran of deliberately inflaming sentiments over a series of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed. But Syria's ambassador to the United States, Imad Moustapha, refutes Rice's accusation and blames the violence on Israeli and U.S. policies in the Middle East.

I thought the wild monkey scenes was because of some friggin cartoons that originated in Denmark...?
