Chris, do you make money off of your photography, or is it just a hobby?

I've made a bit doing some work for the local environment agency, but not much - it's just a hobby really.

Doesn't it suck how much our hobbies cost? Sucks being a nerd sometimes...

Can someone explain the battery grip to me?
I used to think it was one giant battery but this has confused me...
The power Grip BG-E2 has been designed for the EOS 20D camera , and has an autonomy for up to 2000 clichés. The power Grip BG-E2 connects automatically on the second battery once this one is empty. It can also be used with 6 AA batteries.

Exactly what the description says. It can hold 2 of the rechargable batteries or if you really wanna blow you money have it run off 6 AA. But the extended battery use is just a plus to what I want it for. It is a easier grip to hold for doing portrait shots. It has a shutter button and a couple dials to control certain aspects of the camera so you are not losing control that way. It is WELL worth the money IMO.

So... the camera can take 1 battery w/out grip. w/grip it can take 2 of the same batteries?
Does it come with any batteries or do you have to buy another one (assuming you have the one that came with the 20d)?

You get one WITH the 20D and an extra battery is about $30 so for the grip and 2nd battery is about $200. I am getting it

Hold the camera in portrait mode with your grip hand on top, rest the camera in the palm of your left hand. I just saved you $200.00.

I agree the grip is a must have...well worth the money.

wise words. Take the money from not buying that grip and get another lens/flash. like mentioned already the 50mm is noice for only $70 (yull crave that f1.8 over the kit lens in no time). Good glass makes good photos, not battery grips. I want one too, mainly just cuz it makes you look badass...but I would take some new glass or strobe over it in a heartbeat.

After that announcement, you might be able to get the 20D much cheaper than what it is now...or the newer camera at the same price.
