I know one was mentioned...but not sure which. Yeah, i loved that first one. I spent hours just chopping down trees and killing deer with the 'stone age' people. That game takes up sooooo much of your time though. I just got AOEIII, but have barely played it as it's so time consuming.

nothing can beat atari's pacman. The sound effects, the violence towards ghosts, it was great. And I remember, for every stage you passed, they gave you an extra life. You could keep playing forever.

what was that old game? It was a platformer type on the Apple II

You had this Indiana Jones type dude and walked around...
    found a gun...
    shot Aztec warrior dudes...
I remember playing it around the time of Wolfenstein.

I don't think it was the greatest game... I liked it though... just wondering if anyone remembers the name...

    nevermind... Aztec, that was it.

Everyone I know who's played AOE1 and AOE2 very strongly speaks of AOE3 being nothing short of terrible. And I agree.

Halo is a good FPS. Not the best.

I just think that claiming games are good because they were back in the day and are now classic doesn't make them the best.

You need all aspects, including good graphics.

Having said that, Metal Slug is one of the best platforming games.

As for Nintendo, they are pretty similar and childish in general, so it's not the first place I'd look for the best game.

really, you think metriod prime and metriod prime echos is childish?

oh and zelda Twlite princess, that def looks childish!

You like games that seem to have good graphics but no substance.. nintendo games are almost Always entertaining and fun, and some even have great graphics, you seem not to care because you are like all the other people out there that dont give nintendo a chance and just assume all thier games are for 4 year olds

The Pro Evolution Soccer series (Winning Eleven in the US)... although the latest one takes some getting used to.

Sensible Soccer / Monkey Island / IK+ on the Amiga.

Street Fighter 2 / Super Mario series - SNES

No-one here into soccer games huh?

Wrong, the whole point is I like good story lines, graphics and music... every aspect has to be good to get into my top 100. From my experience Nintendo fail to reach my criteria in all areas.

But I won't say that Zelda Twilite Princess doesn't look good, and Metriod looked pretty cool when it came out. But such a short list of games already proves my point. One not even released yet is yet another point... they have started to listen to what people like me are saying... getting Zelda into a grown up gamers view... if it ever comes out.

Nintendo really make games that look and feel childish, maybe with a few adult titles hidden in there. Best selling games for the gamecube? Super Smash Bros. Melee...The amazingly cell shaded Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker? If they don't look childish, I must be blind.

At least on other platforms you can get realistic graphics, which in turn make the game feel a little more adult. Final Fantasy games provide the story, graphics and music required for a good game - FFVII and VIII IMO. Metal Gear Solid series provide the same. Even Nintendo drooled over MGS and so they ended up getting it...shame they failed to make it appealing to the kids who owned a gamecube. They only seem to get adult games right if it's off of another platform.

And as for your comment about me being like everyone else. Sure, other people have realised my point too, if you want to break away from the rather childish games, Nintendo won't be the ones to do it. I know tonnes of people like you who believe Nintendo is the end all... To me you're like everyone else.

Even the gamecube's controller look like lego.... But then again, that's nothing compared to Nintendogs being the best selling DS game. What the hell is wrong with you people?
