Who's your favorite Music Artist? :::: The discussion forum
It's another Music discussion with the music-crazy guy, Cemrin.
The next question:
-----------------
Who's your favorite music artist, and why do you like him/her/them?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the past, I've written a few discussion forum topics here in the CL, and I was amazed at your feedback...
I came up with this discussion question after being blown away (in a good way ) by the responses to "What does Music mean to you". This question sort of carries on with that topic....

Nice...
I've actually never heard of Yanni before... how long have they been around?

'twas a joke. Yanni is a dude... produces boring music, recently arrested for domestic violence. we have to work on that joke factor with you... big time.

I know, sorry, I just can't detect big jokes anymore... I used to anyway...
And how was I supposed to know? I don't even know who Yanni was... he wasn't on the news at all.. or any other media that I've browsed through...

Cemrin, Not knowing who Yanni is is a good thing, trust me.
You're better off not knowing who it (yes IT) is.

I think I'll take your advice on that

At the moment I'm fascinated by Robert Pollard and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, both indie rock artists. But the best musician ever? I have no idea.
The more music I buy, the less I know about my taste it seems. While my music collection grows and grows, I can no longer pick a favourite artist, or even a favourite genre for that matter. Funny thing is, my criteria for good music have shifted from what is instantly pleasing to my ears to the music I can respect and admire for it's creativity. Some of my favourite music is the kind that I couldn't imagine myself listening to rationally. Bands like At the Drive-In for instance, are completely against all I stand for, all the moral rules and ethical guidelines I follow, and yet their songs excite me like no other. I've always fancied my taste a varied one, but I could've never imagined it would turn out to be so eclectic.
I think I can give one answer to your question, Cemrin, and that answer is hardly satisfactory. The most talented musician I know of must have been W.A. Mozart, or J.S. Bach. But that's not really an answer to the question "what's your favourite music artist", now is it?

"One armed Scissor" is still one of my favorite songs. A few members of At the Drive-In formed the band Mars Volta, its good stuff. Check it out if you havent already.
