Im looking to start up a fantasy football league for this year. But, this time, it will be with something at stake.

The problem is, cbssportsline has increased their minimum pay league price to $39.99. And the winner only gets $200. Quite a scam they have going there. Also, when you win, you have to get a form notarized and go through all this bs to collect your winnings.

I looked around for alternatives and it seems that they might be the only place offering pay and reward leagues (hence the rip-off). The closest comparison I could find was EA Sports Fantasy Football. They have a deal where you only pay $9.99 and the winner gets a free game of their choice.

Does anyone know of any alternatives or have any ideas? Whats involved in setting up an "escrow" type account so that we could use one of the free services and trust that everyone has paid up front?

I suppose we could. People might write it off and not pay tho if they start losing.

I could hold the money up front until the end also.

Im up for trust til end or whatever people are ok with. I was thinking $10 would be an easy amount. Just anything to prevent someone drafting and then never playing again.

Any other ideas? Interest?

I say we use a free league, like yahoo or something...and go with the trust factor. Indivision could be the commissioner. Maybe you collect the money before the draft? We have just under a month before the draft starts...its not so hard to send somebody a $10-$20 check in a month if you're serious about playing.

i say we send the money to someone not in the league, before the draft, then at the end they send it to the winner. everyone would have to agree on the person though.

The shrine is publically funded, thank you very much - as are all my other shrines to creepy stalkers.

i think thats a good idea.

is everyone up for sending it to JapanGreg? (assuming hes not interested in playing?) how do we set up payment? paypal?

how about the fee. $10 good?

im guessing that we wont have enough people just from flashkit to fill a league. i know a bunch of people that could fill spots and anyone else with friends interested could join.

Ok. The league is set up. To try something different (and avoid a $130 charge on cbssportsline) Ive set it up on fox sports.

Entry will be $10. Runner up gets $10 back and the winner gets the rest.
