There's a great set of introductory tutorials on Making Games in ActionScript 3 using FlashDevelop at prototyprally. That's where I got started.

And of course there's Flixel, the free AS3 game engine, and a great Basic Game Tutorial I'd recommend for anyone looking to get started with that.

I just posted a more detailed guide on my blog if you want more info on it:

Where to Start with AS3, FlashDevelop and Flixel

    Hope it helps.

I recently had a project (website) to build and again i've faced the MAC OS mouse wheel issue (which i'm sure all of you come to from time to time).
Yeap, there're some workarounds like the one that pixelbreaker did or the one that libspark did, but they don't work properly (for eg in os leopard). So, after hours spent to find a clear solution i decided to build my own lib which would allow the browser's native scrollbars usage instead of trying to solve those issues. And now that the lib is released, i just wanted to share with you; probably some of you find it useful.
    Hope it helps your devs.

    Project: SWFSize lib
    Language: as3 + js
    Licence: open source
    Requires Flex Framework: No
    Requires AIR Runtime: No
    Project Owner: Julius Loa (me
Description: SWFSize is a small (really small) library for Adobe Flash technology that works in collaboration with SWFObject and provides control over the swf's container metrics. By controlling the swf’s container metrics SWFSize gives you the ability to solve the MAC OS mouse wheel issue once and for all; don’t use workarounds - use the browser's native scrollbars instead.
You can view the samples/get source/docs at the project's home page.

    Free 3D Panorama

    Hi guys,

I just created a 3D Panorama and wanna share this to everyone. I haven't seen an open source 3D panorama, so I just research and make one.

Currently I need some comments and feedback to enhance and to be more useful...

    Here is the demo link:
    Free 3D Panorama

    Download the source code here.

For the official link click here.

Good comments and suggestions will be very much appreciated.

    Explosion generator

    Hello,

If you are looking for a nice, working explosion generator you can find one here:
    http://www.phaedy.com/gamez/archives/229

It is based on a particle generator (meaning there are a bunch of options to play with)
and it can save a transparent png with the sprite sheet.

Perhaps it would be wise to update this post to reflect new versions of Flash for those that wish to create games and applications?

You could link to CS6 and Flash Player 11, as well as the new Stage 3D.
