    react within

    hi guys,
i havent been posting here long, but been lurking for years.
i must say that im very impressed with everyones' work...intimidated even.

so i guess my site is at a point where im ready for the public to check it out, and offer feedback.

i would love some opinions on the site.

it;s not to full completion yet, but i think i;ve nailed down the design elements enough. now it;s just populating the sections.

    thanks everyone.

*edit* i know the intro needs a preloader...it;s on my list of things to do.
*edit2* the iframe scrolls horizontally, and will be fixed asap.

I would suggest adding some code to your page, so the flash file has a black background before starting, rather than white.

also, on your "works" page, I would maybe have the "web work", "print work" and "fine art" links lined up at the top and have them stay at the top on all pages of the "works" section so it would be easier for your viewers to browse.

yup, i agree with having the links at the top, that way we don't have to go back to that works page after viewing each section.
the higher the climb, the better the view.

Wow people still do intros haha :P

Not sure why you used an inline frame it kinda ugly and doesnt really need to be there

It reminds me of the first site I made in swish I was so proud of it I used to show it to everyone hehe

Ive since then quite using flash cause I hate flash cause Im lazy and its hard lol

Its a start, its not a bad site just looks like someone who hasnt read quite as much as your average user here has built it. Just keep on learning if this is something you like to do

I started off on the same level and I would like to think what Im doing now shines of improvement

i used the frame so the top bar, and side nav don;t have to load everytime...is there maybe another way to achieve this?

the intro was sort of an experiment with video to vector...i wouldn't shy away from removing that...

i definitely need to work on the colors, newuser101.
i thought simple buttons with a cool mouseover might be effective...what would you do to the buttons?

    thanks for the feedback guys.

Waaaay too much BLACK - please add more colors and look into the navigation menu on left, it is too basic..

Lou, you could make the navigation in flash so it wouldn't have to reload. You can do this by keeping the navigation all on it's own layer and placing the individual pages on their own layers and frames.

that would be for a strictly flash built site right?...help me understand it if i don;t...a buddy told me i could use dynamic text in flash, and have that area be where the new pages are loaded, but that would keep the whole site in flash, right?...

basically i used flash elements...like the intro, the header, and the nav, and placed it into a table in dreamweaver...then that center cell is where the iframe loads in DW...not flash...i'd like to stick to using dreamweaver, as i find it very simple to make changes globally to the site, and for ease of uploading to my remote host...

but if you guys think it makes more sense to go full flash...let me know...

    thanks again for feedback!

yeah, I was talking about a fully flash site. You could always use CSS for the navigation if you don't want to go totally flash.

Whether you go totally flash depends on you and who you want and think will view the site.
