Themed Photography :: Week 37 :: ANSEL ADAMS

Time to liven up this forum. This weeks theme is quite challenging. How do you get that elusive "silvery" quality the Ansel had?

Do your best to emulate ANSEL ADAMS.

    As always, the Ru|3z:
    • Photoshopping of images IS allowed as long as you state what it is that you have done to your photograph(s). Please remember though, that this is NOT a Photoshop battle this is Themed Photography.
    • Let's keep the file and image size under FK guidelines (under 750 px wide).
    • All photographs must be related to the current weekly theme.
    • Photographs must be taken by the idividual posting (no stealing photos).
    • Use any camera (ie. cellphone, point-and-shoot, disposable) just submit!
    • Multiple submission are welcomed.
    • Photos must be no more than a week old. Take some NEW pictures people!

Have fun, get creative, post as often as you like.

Eek....Ansel Adams....I might have to try this but there is no way to "emulate" a master

I know this isn't all that - but I wanted to get something up before I was banned

When I've got some more time I'll get out of my area to get some proper landscape shots.

It's a shame I can't pop over to the Grand Canyon!

The shot was taken last night as it started to get dark and just before it started to spit. I exposed for the sky so the foreground was pretty dark, but I shot in RAW so I brought a second exposure into the PSD and masked out the sky. Had to do quite a bit of dodging and burning etc... but that's about it!

I didn't say it defensively - I was checking myself! I didn't even think while I was doing the image that the rules say no photoshopping.

not sure about the silvery quality...and it is not taken in America but in England/Yorkshire

Oops...I desaturated, adjusted the levels and added the border in PS!

I am going to upstate New york this weekend to visit a friend. He says there is tons of nice landscapes. I will have a photo soon I hope.

Anyone been to St Lawrence college? if so, any secret locations I should know about...

Use a gradient map. I get some good blacks using that.
