Yeah I figured he already new about the channel mixer so I suggested an alternative. But I guess not everyone knows all the little tricks.

Well here is my attempt. The first one is just playing with the channel mixer in monochrome mode. The second one is with a 75% gradient map overlaid the first image.

May be a bit flat depending on your monitor... looks fine on mine at home but here at school it's not so great.

Only PS was the combat the contrast and all that crap introduced by the scanner. Otherwise it's as true to the print as, well, on my screen, it can be.

    -edit-

A week old? Boooo... well, this ain't a week old but I think it's the closest emulating print I have. It's only.... 2 months-ish old.

Another thing that all the digimons here might look into is playing with the Calculations feature in PS. It's fun

    edit: see below

I'm going to take some b&w film up there tomorrow and get some shots, then i'll try some old skool Ansel Adams techniques in the darkroom on Monday night.

You mean Stirling, Scotland? How do you know Scotland?

It's a place called Kinnoull Hill, Perth. Little more than 30 miles from Stirling.

I'm uploading one now to Flickr, I was messing with the contrast and levels, Lucky me, only it's more into Architect, not Nature

    Is it allowed??

Great composition Yasu, looks a little soft though... I think it really suits the image, just not really Adams' style.

I went to town on this one... the snaking river reminded me of Adams' shot of the Tetons. I think I maybe took it a little too far

I will try some proper-bo darkroom dodging and burning and get some scans next week.

edit: I remember I tried this aaaaaages ago, looks kinda weak in comparison to some that have been posted here. Lacks contrast...
