The Departed
Searched, didn't find anything, and was sort of surprised. Movie came out last Friday, did well over the weekend at the Box Office, and has garnered amazing reviews.
I saw it Saturday, and I can agree with the general consensus; this may be one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's most certainly top 5, for me at least. Top notch performances from almost every performer, although I think Baldwin and Wahlberg stole every scene they were in.
I'll be seeing it again quite soon.
Anyone else seen it yet?

I've heard nothing but excellent things about it from people ranging from my Mom to meathead financial services sales buddies, which is pretty friggin' diverse. The New Yorker was lukewarm on it.
I heard Nicholson refrains from his usual mannerisms and actually performs for a change, true?

Yeah, Nicholson's pretty damn good in it. Apparently he's playing Whitey Bulger, or at least how he see's him. He's also said his character is "evil in it's purest form," or something to that effect. Regardless, he's a friggin' bad ass.
I really don't think there were any weak performances in the film, actually. As I said earlier, Wahlberg and Baldwin were outstanding, Nicholson is Nicholson, and Damon and Dicaprio as the two leads are perfect. I've never been a huge Leo fan, but he's awesome in this one.

New Wave
Saw it last weekend, great movie and great cast. I agree Mark Walberg was great in this. I have no doubt Scorsese will get the Oscar this time around. Yeah it's a remake, but probably the best remake ever, and it has been said the director of the original was inspired by Scorsese so it all comes around.

I saw it on sunday. I had no idea they could still make movies like this. Everyone, and I mean everyone from baldwin to sheen did great. Best damon has ever been. Scorsese deserves a lot of credit for bringing out the performances.

Saw it on Friday night. The whole cast was great. Scorcese can do no wrong in my eyes, but this was truly a pleasant surprise. Marky Mark was super, obviously Damon, Nicholson, Sheen and DiCaprio were brilliant, but even Baldwin (whose accent was attrocious) was fabulous. Here you go, Academy...time to f*** over Marty Scorcese one more time.

I'm a bit of a movie snob, but this one's excellent. Best film I've seen this year, hands down. If you haven't checked it out yet, you really should.

Saw this opening day, absolutely brilliant. I was stuck with the story line the whole time, brilliant integration of technology as well. Writing, acting, all top notch.
PAlexC: That's just Chuck Norris's way of saying sometimes corn needs to lay the heck down.
Gerbick: America. Stabbing suckers since Vespucci left.

no doubt. you gotta watch how much you use in addition to what kind these days. I love 24 but I think they made like two hundred phone calls in one day.

Saw it last night, and wow. Haven't seen a movie that rich in the theater in awhile, actually felt like I got my money's worth and then some. In anyone else's hands, it would've been just an action/thriller rat-hunt story. Whole cast was excellent, I loved Baldwin's little rants. Scorsese better win something for this.

I am finally pleased with a movie I saw in the theater!
ONLY little nitpick was how they kept going in and out of the Boston accent. Was pretty annoying after a while.
