Go to http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/download/ and download the Adobe Illustrator Export Plug-in (they also have one for CorelDraw). It allows you export to Flash SWF's from within Illustrator. It maintains the layers as separate SWF movies if you choose. I had a complex image that consisted of around 10 to 12 layers. Most of them were different text areas that were "text following a path" using Illustrator's Path Type Tool. The export maintained all of the look of the fonts, etc. The text was converted to outlines, but at least it all looked correct. I had tried several of the methods mentioned in this forum with no luck, but this plug-in did the trick!
