Vistas
Seeing the fever that has caught the Arena, I figured I should jump back in as well. I'm looking for a battle with a slightly larger canvas size, but that comprises a good level of detail and effort.
I'm thinking the theme for this to be vistas of some sort, so this would be scenery chops for the most part. Strange worlds, foreign settings, cool sights. That is what I'm hoping for this one.
Rules:
- Size: 800 x 600 (negotiable)
- Theme: Scenery
- Turnaroud: 1 week *Although early submissions are great too.
- Element: Element from the previous volley encouraged, but not absolutely required (ie, don't try to force it if it won't fit). That said, maintenance of consistency would be nice. So if you've got a vista overlooking the ocean, maybe I will do an ocean image or something along those lines.
I've got a couple finals this weekend (tomorrow and Saturday), so I won't have a serve up for a few days. Alternatively, whoever accepts can post a serve if they would like, as I have defined the theme.
If you would like to have a go at this, then please just let me know. I'm thinking this to be a 3 volley match. Should get me back into the swing a little bit, and maybe provide some backgrounds for those still on smaller displays.
I look forward to seeing who steps up .

Vistas is a good idea. 800x600 is close enough to my desktop to make wallpaper size too....
so make so damn good desktops!

...dishing dimes on an .fla!
How about keeping this as an open battle thing...one where anyone can post up some really good desktops?

I've done the open battle thing before, it tends to be a little more drawn out and with less structure. With so much going on in the Arena right now, I'd like to keep this a little more structured. I appreciate the suggestion though, point.

With this action in the arena, nobody is up for it?

Nice return Darkness. A little quick, but nice.
Not a huge fan of the scanlines though, although I had one of those fazes myself.

yeah here at work with down time but yeah next time no scan lines Promise artist honor. it was relatively quick but with your image and building the light and shadows on the old guy after taking him out of his original setting it took some time there.

Vulf, I forgot to mention it when I had first seen it, but I really like your first image. Keep it coming, dude.

Thanks O. I've got an idea for my next act, but it will have to wait a couple of days. My CS3 is acting up again (it wont start?) and I've got other things IRL to worry about before I get around to fixing that.
Darkness, we said 1 week turnaround, so no pressure .
