videos in flash

Good day everyone, I have a little bit of a problem. I have a flash website that loads video files. The video files are mpg and avi. To use the videos in flash, I converted them to flv and dragged a video file into the media video player in flash 8. On my HDD, the videos get loaded and play without any problem.

I uploaded the files on the internet and even though I left it for hours it doesnt play on the internet at all. After a few trials I;

1. used absolute links to load the video files but still didnt work
2. I placed a preloader in front of the file to know if the swf the video file is placed get loaded. The preloader showed but the video didnt play.

Is there something Im doing wrong or if there is a better way to play videos on flash website over the internet that will make the video load fast.
