    how do they do that?

not sure this is really appropriate for this forum, but thought someone here might be able to suggest possible answers to my question, and if not, then i'm just sharing a cool photo

saw this photo, and have been trying to figure out how the hell you would even go about trying to acheive it?

this could have been achieved by throwing the water and apple separately. the water is thrown horizontally from a vessel. as the forward end begins to fall, another person throws the apple from below/left, which pulls that forward edge up. i dunno. that's just what i saw.

Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

Since I have been browsing DP Challenge the past couple years I would say this is straight photography with trial and error. A camera is setup next to a water container(most likely made out of plexiglass) and then the apple is thrown in at an angle and right when it is done going down and the apple begins to go back up to the surface SNAP SNAP SNAP and then one of the frames taken is chosen to enhance in PS(but not too much- you would be amazed at how talented this people are with their setups).

    oh yeah-
green paper behind the box and an amazing lighting setup to boot.

oh right, so you reckon this is actually under water?! i hadn't even though of that possibility.

to be honest i think part of what i love about it is not knowing for sure how it was done. it's fascinating. and however he did it, it's a brilliant shot.

WannaBe hit the nail right on the head. That is the air pocket traveling under the water, not water in the air. And apples float...

    (183) Senders : Yes, there are such machines aquarium images, which I do very well studied from Igor Sakharov ..., but there is absolutely nothing to do with. The water that you see is the water, and air-to-air.
Igor Sakharov is famous for his underwater shoots.

the apple and the water is put in a container, then they are both slung and that's the effect. You can see well the curve lines from the water following the apple, probably the container was a wide one to allow the slinging with an angle, perhaps while it's being rotated

Doable and I'll try it this weekend

I saw a picture with this same shape of water in mid-air. It was made by a girl with long hair, standing in the shallow end of a pool. She had had her face and hair down in the water then stood up real fast and flipped the hair back over her head, the water streaming out in a solid mass shaped just like that.

How they got the green color to show and the bg is beyond me.
