using flash ExternalInterface with visual basic?

I'm currently using flash 8 pro and I'm trying to learn how to use the ExternalInterface import with vb6. I've been trying to find information on it. The only thing I can find out is that it is possible, but I can't find any actual information on it.


What I'm trying to do is get my visual basic6 application to invoke a function in flash when ever I want.
I've played around with using a interval timer to check when a variable is changed, but it isn't effective enough. It could miss something that the application wants it to do quite easily.

Any help is much appreciated.
