i love how its all about how americans have gun problems, when it was some kid form south korea doing the shooting.

i think it's more about gun laws in america, than gun attitudes of american people.
although personally i'm not convinced it has much to do with that either.
who knows. there do seem to be a lot of gun crimes over there compared to elsewhere (not sure how much of that is down to media coverage- i haven't looked at stats)....

Rumor is that the guns were illegally required and illegal themselves as the serial numbers were filed off.

I don't know if this is correct though. (In another site, I found 0.056 per 1,000 people for USA)

Of course it does. But if everybody have guns, there will be more shootings. Imagine how situations, e.g. with mentally unstable or drunk people, could have been if they all had guns.

how often do you think someone is going to pull a gun out in a crowd if they know everyone in the crowd will in turn pull a gun out on them?
id feel more safe personally.

So you're all for the old wild west huh? Yeah, settle arguments over a shoot out! Hang a man for stealing a horse!!
You'd probably like it here in Kenya, pretty common to lynch someone caught by the public trying to steal from someone.

Well, I don't think that people who are really drunk or mentally ill will necessarily consider that.
I think that the amount of guns have something to say, but there must also be something more. Didn't M. Moore in "Bowling for Columbine" claim that it had something to do with the entire culture... that people were afraid?
Whatever it is, it's something. There aren't that many school shootings in other countries, and compared to other western countries, the US has way more homicides by guns per capita. Sad, but true.

if a drunk/mentally ill person has a gun, are you more or less likely to survive if you have a gun as well?

I think it's sad that you apparently seem to think it is better to kill somebody with something other than a gun.

in practice oddly enough the opposite is true. In the u.s. areas with more liberal gun laws tend to have fewer crime victims.

How many rounds must a weapon be able to hold?
In what situation would you need at 19 rounds in a clip to defend yourself?

Good question. Though what would be the response from the usual if someone asked for all guns sold to the public to only hold, say, 6 rounds?

I don't know.. nothing reasonable to be sure. But anything more than 9 rounds is illegal, unless it is old.

Not unless the black market is now giving out receipts: Killer's Note: 'You Caused Me to Do This'
...Sources tell ABC News Cho bought his first gun, a Glock 9 millimeter handgun, on March 13; they say he bought his second weapon, a .22 caliber pistol, within the last week. The serial numbers on both guns had been filed off, they said.
Authorities found the receipt for the 9 millimeter handgun in Cho's backpack. They say the bag also contained two knives and additional ammunition for the two guns....
Sounds like another flipped-out loner. Gun laws aside, sad sad day.
