300 unique-gameplay-mechanics inspiration source
http://www.squidi.net/three/about.php
“Simply put, a challenge to myself. Every day for three hundred days, I will post a gameplay mechanic that has (hopefully) never been seen in a commercial video game. Three hundred mechanics. No more. No less.”
I'm very excited by this, definately gonna come back there often to breath some inspiration.

Hype over content...
walnoot, you're one of the few people here who surely doesn't need inspiration, you're bursting at the seams with great new ideas.
I'll go for 22. He must have a good hand full of ideas already, doing that without a couple of ideas in the bank would be insane.
Squize.

Erm yes. Note to self, fully read first, post second. I'd still contest how new the mechanics actually are - number 21 is a rehash of pacman.

At the most basic level, you basically walk around mazes and "eat" pellets. The pellets are placed in every walkable tile, and the maps are designed such that there are never a bunch of empty tiles next to each other - you are always in a corridor of some sort. Your goal is to eat ALL the pellets and avoid any enemy which may cross your path.

2KHeroes / Sylvaniah designer
(insert game name) is definitely an arcade game with a bit of an RPG feeling : let's say like ...heu...a kind of PAC MAN for example ( though Gauntlet was a better example ) where you can collect diverses bonuses, shoot your enemies at distance (or not, depending on the caracter ) and have to complete certain things to access the next set of maps ...
Unfortunately, for the pac-man idea, he wasn't the first one to think of that that 's what I wrote to describe 2 Kingdoms in 2002 ... and i'm taking no glory of it, but it seems obvious that action RPGs are glorified pacmans with a twist, but solving the maze while escaping / killing the enemies ( if you have the appropriate "item") relies exactly on the same gameplay mechanics...
This said, it's a fun idea, and I also wonder how long it comes before he start going into circles

M.D.
good luck to him, he may get 300, but there's gonna be some bad ones.
"Sonic the Beaver"
he's a beaver who can run real fast and chomp his enemies up in lightning speed.
I liked our little brain storm thread - http://board.flashkit.com/board/show...ighlight=ideas

I've just started developing two of his ideas. No credits either. Woot.

I find his black and white idea extremely interesting. In the right hands (and in the right software) that kind of a game could be really amazing with a specifically designed set of physics laws.
BitmapData would go to good use there...
As stated before though, I'm sure he'll run out. It sounds like the guy has a bunch of stored up ideas (albeit, more than the normal person) but not anything beyond that. Good luck to him though, it's a large task.

Yeah the black and white idea is the only bankable one there.
Someone will probably pinch the idea now that it's arguably become public domain now though.

Highly agree with what he says about procedural generated content extending gameplay and being the key to great games -and at the same time am glad to put a technical name to what I would always call 'chucking in randomised crap'

That was probably idea, banking on losing the account he started the challege a few weeks ago knowing he didn't have to do a full 300 days... or maybe I'm just really tired.

Ha ha, conspiracy! I think you're right IP!
It's up again, and some of the ideas are actually really good! Not necessarily game-ready but really fun thoughts! Definitely inspiring!

Hey Timmy!!!
Wow, really cool. Some of them are really detailed too. I like the banner RPG one.
