A Flat Surface to a Sphere.

Here's the deal, I have an illustrator image (Map of the World) which I imported into Swift 3D. It give me a lovely extruded flat surface; but what I want to now do it wrap it around a sphere or change it to a Sphere. I've looked long and hard but found no way to do it; it needs to be an illustrator file because it's going to be exported as an SWF.

Another option would be to create a sphere and use the illustrator file as the texture!?

Is there any way to do this!?

I'd say your best bet if you need to use that particular file would be to use the Illlustrator file as the texture, but it won't be vector that way. You would have a heck of a time trying to convert a flat map of the earth into a perfect sphere, or even something close. Another option would be to search the net for a 3D globe mesh in .3DS format that you can import and render as vector.
