    ok so here's the thing..

..I've just spent a week re-creating my website, which currently is www.flashculture.com in Flash. The new version has a .swf in the centre, which is used to load in dynamic content from a database. I designed it so that there is a google adsense skyscraper text banner on the far right of the page.

I just tested it online, and well.....lets just say the ads had about as much to do with Flash as a sausage with an ipod. I was under the impression that you could actually tell adsense what kinds of ads you want to display, but alas you cannot, because that would be too simple. It seems that it looks at the content of the page and works out what ads to display based on that. So heres my problem

all my content is inside my .swf! which loads it in dynamically anyway!

So any ideas about how to get around this problem? I havn't set the website up properly yet, it doesn't have any meta stuff yet, so maybe thats got a lot to do with it...

    thanks for any advice.

From what I know about Adsense, which is only a tad, is that ad subjects can be pulled from both the page title and the meta keywords, but I'm not going to promise anything. The best to do would be to just do a test and see how you can get it to display the proper ads.

I don't know how much google will appreciate "hidden text" to force ads to appear. I know they don't like it for search engine placement, but I'm not too sure about getting the proper ads to show up.

My best bet would be to throw up some good meta tags and a good page title and see how it works for you.

'Taco has it right. AdSense is based on information that it can gather from the page and not binary data, such as your *.swf.

Meta tags and the like could be your savior. Also, you could just simply place large portions of your *.swf information into the html as a hidden tag/text. AdSense, once your site is crawled properly by Google will display that hidden information.

Google still can't index *.swf files.

Thanks. But you've posted this in Site Check and Games.

I'd suggest not posting this multiple times. It's against the rules.

I posted here just to let the other posters here know that I finished what I was talking about.

And Site Check. And Games. I consolidated those two other threads.

One post would have sufficed outside of this thread.

I will in the appropriate thread. Right now, I'm merely enforcing the rules and making sure you understand them.
