    sandyrivers vs clicky2 | It's about time...

    OK, who feels like schooling a n00b? The only way I'm gonna get any better is by doing it, so let's dance!

    Rules:

    • 650x400
    • Rotation allowed
    • Must use element from previous volley
    • No Theme
    • 3 Rounds
    • 5 to 7 Day Turnaround


    Ok, so here we go:



    The point of this battle (for me anyway) is to gain more experience and learn from my mistakes. That being said, crits/comments are most appreciated!

    So who wants some? Come and put me in my place!

    Nice serve... Really nice!

    While I'm not sure about the font, which may be a bit too plain for the overall feel of the picture, I do like the way you've used colours from the image in your text!

    It don't look n00bish to me!

    Aww, shucks... Thanks everyone! I appreciate the support! :blush:

    @Matt - Thanks for the crit. Typography has never been my strong suit (as others have already attested to in other threads). I chose this font because I usually lean towards the cheesy and cartoony, and I really wanted something a bit more sophisticated this time. Ahh well, with time I'll develop a better font arsonal from which to pull.

    @Lefty - Thanks for giving me a big head now.

    @Rush - Damn, that woulda been sweet! Anytime you wanna rumble, just let me know. It would be an absolute honor to battle you, sir. You, Lefty, and Nats are the reason this post came about, based on your fine crits/comments on my other work and inquiries. I started this serve simply as a blending mode exercise and kinda ran with it.

    Again, thanks everyone for the kind words!

    have no fear .. the image will soon be here. Just got swamped at work, but I'd say I'm about 75-80% done. Just need to put a few finishing touches on it tonight and post. Hope that's ok ... hey at least it's within the 5-7 day window I guess.

    I love it, Clickster. That text treatment is tight and the composition is wonderful. Very nice, dude.



    If I had to crit this image I would say that the outer glow on the bird pic might look a little better if it were more of a shadow and less of a uniform glow. The glow does a nice job of setting it off from the wall, but I don't think that darkness should be present above the image. Her shoulder has a grey edge that kind of catches the eye as well. Otherwise though, I really like it.
