    [CS3/AS2] Gradient on Font

Is breaking apart text into shapes the only way to add a gradient?
It seems like such a hassle to have to make your text un-editable, & to have to modify the gradient on each individual letter...

    Anyone got any ideas/tips?

    Thanks, community

couldn't you create a mask over the text layer? that mask would then have the gradient on it....dunno...i rarely use flash and never use gradients...just figured it might be an option to try.

ahh, actually, that reminds me! I might be able to use the text AS the mask with the gradient underneath! (that may be what you meant)
...that might work, except they want the text to "morph" into some other text...so that might not work, but it's a place to start!
    thanks
