I'm going to be a Flash Geek, need career advice!!!

I want to become a flash designer and developer. I love using flash, and the technical illustrator in me is attracted to the opportunity animate whatever I choose. I currently am a freelance web designer but I’m more of a generalist(html, css, javascript, actionscript). I no longer wish to be a generalist for I have not fully mastered any of my languages I just know my way around most of them.

I wish to become a specialist in one area.
At the present time my animation skills in flash are pretty tight yet my actionscript is rather basic( buttons, a few commands etc.)I’m looking to push my actionscript from a 4 to an 8 or 9.. I feel that I’ll have a better chance of becoming successful if I concentrate on mastering one discipline( or in this case two-design/development.

I was wondering if any one has advice on building a portfolio of flash pieces. I have a few banners under my belt and a flash site. Should my portfolio contain a number of sites, banners, etc, or should I just concentrate on one area such as 12 banners or 10 flash sites? Thanks for your time guys.

Here is my portfolio at the moment. I'm going to spruce it up and change from web designer/copywriter to flash designer/developer

I think the best way to get 'advice' on making portfolios is by looking at other people's portfolios - you can usually get some new ideas for your own just from looking at them.
Any time you see a portfolio in someone's signature, check it out
Sorry I couldn't give you much better advice than that :P

Thanks man!! I was hoping someone here had some experience as a flash designer. Nevertheless it seems I'll have to go swimming. Thanks again.

There's lots of people here with experience as flash designers, but they just haven't replied yet

Anyway, here's some interesting portfolios to check out, if you're interested:
