Logo - critique

I find this logo very *yawn* -
Anyone have any general tips that would make this more exciting
(color, font, effects...)?

I like the eggs in the nest, mb make more of those. What sort of style are you looking for? modern, traditional, quirky??

It's a science project for anyone to participate in. All levels. Can be a beginner
or a professional biologist. The nest observations can be made in a backyard
or on a wildlife refuge. The website is very modern with flash slideshows,
online data entry, community forums, interactive quizzes...

I like the 2nd variation with the blue font because it looks more friendly

I like the overall concept, try making the tannish border a little thinner. At first when I look at it, it looks like a fruit cut in half (orange), so thinning the border might help. And just for kicks and giggles, try wrapping the NestWatch words around one side of the logo, as a variation.

I like the eggs too, but I feel like some more graphical elements would help make it "pop" more.

Ohhh, those are eggs ? I thought it's a flower...

The logo isn't bad but I'm not feeling the color scheme. You have an orangeish logo with blue text ? Not really feeling that one, but if you'd try a different color for the text, maybe even a different font, then it might work.

yep, i agree with plenarycreation..... i think brown text would work better.

the image isn't obviously a nest with eggs. i agree- i thought it was a flower. but if that's not too important to you, then go with it!
