    About version 4.9.8.5

This new version contains a number of improvements and bug fixes over the previous version.

For the last few months, we have been developing a whole new set of core elements that offer a huge improvement over the existing elements, making 3DFA as powerful, flexible, and easy to use as it can possibly be. A new version with the new elements will be released as version 5 later in the year.

We are also currently working on a sister product for 3DFA which uses the version 5 interface to generate SilverLight animations.

I apologize for the delay in releasing 4.9.8.5, it has taken a while to stabilize the code. If there are any significant bugs found then another new version will released next week.

In terms of the appearance of 3DFA's editor, there is little difference. There will simply be some new elements to choose from.

The changes essentially revolve around a new Graphics element that exploits new opportunities offered by AS3 and SilverLight, which allow a whole new level of animation possibilities. Event driven animation completely takes the place of the old movie timeline.

The new Graphics element can be used as a skin for the new button element or other new control elements like the new scrollbar or menu elements. Even fonts are skinnable with the new Font element. The best thing is that all the new elements are open-source and user modifiable.

We've been laying the groundwork for this new interface for the last 12 months, and there are still a few months of development before everything clicks into place and starts working.

The old elements will still be available for backward compatibility, but 3DFA's future rests upon the new interface, and a whole new way of building games and animations.

I'm sorry i cannot offer you more information, it is best not to advertise new software before it is ready to release.

If anyone experiences a crash when exporting to Flash 8, just download the new version again and reinstall it and all will be fine.
